Originally written and recorded in a two-hour session in 2006, and a couple of elements from that recording was sampled here. I want to give a very special thank-you to Ryan Rowland for sending the individual tracks that he somehow had after 17 years. This track (the album too, really) is a love letter to the somewhat cringe ambition and earnestness of my efforts back in my youth. It deserves some kind of resurrection.
lyrics
It's like waking up for the first time
It's like switching the lights
On and off all the time
It's like feeding ashes to the soul
Or it's like seizing the lights
Spark on and off in my mind
They made something else from me
Half a lifetime left
And now I'm left to check
For any signs of life
On and off, I'm alive
Nothing is worse than the barricades in our minds
Been gone for so long and I still don't really know why
Nothing is worse than being content with all this
Still wondering how I've made so much undone
It's like waking up for the first time
It's like switching the lights
On and off all the time
